Manitoba held a record number draw inviting 1,140 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination on July 27.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to candidates eligible for the Skilled Workers Overseas stream.

All candidates must have previously submitted a profile to Manitoba’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system. As well, candidates needed a minimum EOI score of 557 to receive an LAA.

Manitoba has now issued 6,139 LAAs to immigration candidates in 2021.

This draw broke the previous record from June 28, where the MPNP invited 1,017 Express Entry candidates.

If invited candidates receive the provincial nomination, they will automatically receive 600 points added to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. All Express Entry-linked Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) give provincial nominees the additional points. By getting the points, it effectively guarantees an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.

All interested candidates in receiving a provincial nomination from Manitoba, must create a profile in the federal Express Entry pool. Candidates should mention their interest in settling in Manitoba on their profile.

In addition to an Express Entry profile, candidates must register an Expression of Interest with the MPNP. This allows candidates to receive an LAA through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams.

Any candidate interested in receiving an invitation through one of the Skilled Worker streams, must have a full-time job offer from a provincial employer.

Candidates overseas must show connections to Manitoba through family ties, previous experience in the province, or an invitation through one of Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives.
