Ontario held its first Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) inviting 64 skilled workers to apply for a provincial nomination on May 25.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued the invitations to immigration candidates who had a profile in the Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Invited candidates were registered for the Regional Immigration Pilot and can now apply for the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream.

There was no score range published for this draw. Candidates needed to have created a profile between April 28, 2021 to May 25, 2021.

The OINP targeted candidates with job offers in three (3) rural communities. To qualify, candidates must have a permanent job offer from one of the following participating communities:

  • Chatham-Kent;
  • Cornwall; or
  • Quinte West/Belleville.

Selected candidates must also meet the criteria for one of the Ontario Employer Job Offer streams below:

  • Foreign Worker;
  • International Student; or
  • In-Demand Skills.

The Employer Job Offer category is designed to use the OINP to bring skilled workers not available locally to small Ontario communities. The program is to help employers fill labour gaps in professional, managerial, and in-demand occupations with foreign workers and international students. Candidates can apply from within or outside Canada.

This is the third EOI draw Ontario has held since it launched the new application intake system in April this year. It is also the first draw of its kind since Ontario launched the Regional Immigration Pilot in 2020.
