Express Entry Canada invites 266 PNP candidates in new draw
Canada issued 266 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence on April 14.
Invited candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 753. The CRS cut-off score is high because all invited candidates needed to have previously received a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
PNP candidates automatically receive 600 additional points once they get a provincial nomination. Without the nomination, the lowest-scoring candidates would have 153 points.
Candidates who had the minimum score of 753 were only invited if they submitted their Express Entry profile before March 1, 2021 at 15:22:18 UTC, as per the tie-break rule. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) published the cut-off time for the tie-break rule as an administrative requirement, regardless of whether there was actually a tie.
IRCC has now invited 49,390 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence in 2021. This is nearly double what it was the same time last year. IRCC has held 12 draws so far in 2021. All draws this year have either been targeted toward Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates or PNP candidates.
CEC-specific draws tend to have lower minimum CRS score requirements because they are not competing with candidates of other classes, so more top-scoring candidates can receive invitations.
As well, IRCC is prioritizing candidates who are already in Canada.
