Canada invited a record-breaking 27,332 candidates to apply for permanent residence in latest Express Entry draw, held on Saturday, February 13, 2021.

Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) stream. It was required that all invited candidates needed to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 75.

Not only did this draw invite a record-breaking number of candidates, but the CRS cut-off score was the lowest requirement ever.

IRCC seems to be very committed to achieving its goal of welcoming 400,000 immigrants in 2021. This draw was almost six (6) times larger than the previous Express Entry record of 5,000 invitations to apply (ITAs). The lowest CRS cut-off score requirement previously, was 199 points in 2017.

In addition to the draw on Saturday, Canada held an Express Entry draw on February 10th, inviting 654 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates to apply. This makes a total of 27,986 ITAs were issued last week.

IRCC implemented the tie-break rule, meaning candidates who had the minimum score of 75 were included if they submitted their Express Entry profile before September 12, 2020 at 7:31am PST.
