The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have started sending application invitations for the 2020 Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). IRCC notes that for those who submitted interest to sponsor forms should check their emails regularly over the next week. The IRCC is only accepting up to 10,000 applications to process. Individuals chosen have sixty (60) days to complete their application.

The lottery of accepting PGP applications was supposed to happen in November 2020 but was postponed due to COVID-19. In the case that a chosen individual is unable to complete the form within sixty (60) days due to COVID, applicants are asked to attach an explanation with proof to the application file. Following, IRCC may allow a ninety (90) day extension upon analyzing the submitted files.

If you submitted a form to the 2020 PGP but were not selected, there will be another opportunity when the 2021 PGP opens. IRCC has stated that they will be accepting to most 30,000 applications for the 2021 PGP, as interests to sponsor increase.
